Since humankind began recording its history, men and women have sought out the desert to heal themselves and to find themselves. Desert Star is such a place, specifically dedicated to healing addictions.
Addiction is "cunning, baffling and powerful". Most people would recover on their own if they could. But most find they need help and support. In order to seek and accept help, the sufferer needs to know, first, that they are talking with someone who completely understands. Secondly, that staff member needs to have the skill and compassion to guide them through the process of recovery.
Desert Star was created by people who have years of experience in recovery. They have studied, practiced and, in many cases, lived what works. Treatment programs at Desert Star are evidence-based. We have done the research.

Treatment at Desert Star
Desert Star's treatment philosophy revolves around the belief that every individual has, within themselves, the resources to recover from their addiction. At Desert Star, professional staff assist the individual to unlock these resources, using a combination of modalities that include 12-step work, psycho-education, motivational enhancement, cognitive behavioral therapies (examining one's belief systems and modes of thinking), Expressive Arts therapies, relapse prevention tools, trauma and grief work, coping methods, and stress reduction, along with an exploration of Mind/Body, spiritual needs and beliefs.
Our clients are encouraged to follow a program of recovery by understanding their addiction cycle and learning new skills to assist them to live a healthy and productive life in sobriety. Specialty programs and workshops are offered to enhance their life in recovery. Aftercare is available and strongly recommended by the program.
Desert Star's goal is to provide individualized addiction treatment. Treatment at Desert Star includes individual, group and family counseling, with special tracks that are gender and/or age specific. Desert Star offers both Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Treatment programs.
